Action Against Hunger began operations in Nigeria in 2010 in response to the high rate of chronic malnutrition in Northern Nigeria, focusing on integrated programming. Action Against Hunger currently implements multi-sectoral humanitarian and development interventions in Northeast and Northwest Nigeria, funded by AFD, EU/ECHO, French Government, GAC, GFFO, SIDA, US Government, and WAM Foundation.

Action Against Hunger is currently looking to fill the role of MEAL Officer Ensure implementation of the MEAL plan for the FSL, Health and Nutrition and WASH programmes including monitoring progress against planned activities, critical milestones and targets as well as providing support and guidance to program officers and CSO/government counterparts to ensure that the data collection, data management and reporting, are of the highest possible quality.

Key Responsibilities:

Objective 1: Coordinate Data Collection, Data Quality Management, Analysis and State Level Reporting

Participate in the design of programme Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning tools (registers, reporting templates, data bases, etc.) to track FSL, Health and Nutrition, and WASH sectors/projects.
In collaboration with various sector stakeholders and relevant ACF staff, ensure timely data collection, compilation, and reporting according to the programme MEAL plan.
Conduct monthly data analysis and prepare monthly programme monitoring reports.
Ensure the programme database is updated regularly.
Support programme feedback meetings to communities, facilities, and authorities.
Support the MEAL Manager to implement the DQA system, including the conduct of data quality assessments according to the MEAL plan.
Support the MEAL Manager in data management for assessments, analysis, surveys, evaluations, and other research as required.
Plan, forecast, and facilitate the production and supply of MEAL tools and materials to supported sites.

Objective 2: Support Programme Supervision, Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning

Support the MEAL Manager to monitor FSL, Health and Nutrition, and WASH sectors/projects across all target communities and communicate findings and progress to Program Managers.
Participate in the evaluation of FSL, Health and Nutrition, and WASH sectors/projects, focusing on data management of evaluation datasets.
Support the dissemination and use of evaluation and research reports and propose changes for improvement to the FSL, Health and Nutrition and WASH sectors/projects Team.

Objective 3: Support Documentation, Reporting, Knowledge Sharing and Effective Feedback Mechanism

Support coordination of FSL, Health and Nutrition, and WASH sectors/projects monthly, quarterly, biannual and annual reviews and reports as required.
Participate in the dissemination of program information to communities, beneficiaries, and other stakeholders through a regular feedback mechanism.
Support the management of the beneficiary complaints and feedback mechanism database.
Update shared drive and project team space with program monitoring documents regularly.

Position Requirements:

Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Rural Development, Business, Administration, statistics, demography, or related subject, with previous experience working in humanitarian projects.
2-3 years of previous experience with local or international NGOs.
Previous experience with FSL, WASH, and Health and Nutrition projects.
Proficiency in the use of MS Excel or other statistical packages. E.g SPSS, STATA, ODK.
Fluency in English, Hausa, and Kanuri.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including report writing.
Ability to work effectively with teams, government institutions, and development partners.
Demonstrated independence, adaptability, and flexibility in dynamic work environments.
