Action Against Hunger currently implements multi-sectoral humanitarian and development interventions in Northeast and Northwest Nigeria, funded by AFD, EU/ECHO, French Government, GAC, GFFO, SIDA, US Government, and WAM Foundation.

Action Against Hunger Nigeria (ACF Nigeria) Ltd/Gte is currently recruiting a Logistics and Supply Chain Manager based in Katsina.  The manager oversees the end-to-end supply chain, ensuring time, cost-effective and compliant procurement, storage transportation and delivery of goods and services to support programme implementation.  The role is also responsible for managing base operations infrastructure, fleet, assets, ICT systems and security related logistics functions.  The position leads the logistics and supply chain team in the base while also supporting partner capacity building.

Key Responsibilities:
 
       Supply Chain and Procurement Management
  • Assess and plan logistics capacity to meet programme requirements.
  • Monitor logistics performance and analyze key indicators.
  • Support Programme Managers in identifying and planning logistics needs.
  • Ensure compliance with ACF policies, procedures, and standards across all logistics activities.
  • Manage and optimize the supply chain, including procurement, transportation, and warehousing, ensuring cost-effectiveness, quality, and timely delivery.
  • Provide guidance and updates to requesters on the status of logistics requests.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of local markets and suppliers.
  • Develop and implement project procurement plans in collaboration with Programme Managers.
  • Monitor and track supply plans to ensure continuity of operations.
  • Oversee the delivery of goods and services, ensuring quality standards are met.
  • Manage inventory and warehouse operations to ensure accurate stock control and availability.
       Base Operations, Infrastructure and Facilities Management
  • Ensure a safe and functional working and living environment for staff.
  • Oversee the construction, rehabilitation, and maintenance of facilities supporting base operations.
  • Plan, allocate, and manage logistics assets and equipment to meet operational needs.
  • Ensure the continuous provision of water, power, and other essential utilities across the base.
  • Coordinate and monitor the efficient use and movement of fleet vehicles.
  • Keep staff informed of maintenance schedules, service disruptions, and equipment issues.
       Fleet, Asset and Equipment Management
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date asset and equipment inventories.
  • Establish and enforce guidelines for the proper use of equipment.
  • Ensure the safe, secure, and efficient use of all equipment and assets.
  • Monitor and optimize equipment utilization to maximize cost-effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with the Logistics Head of Department to plan and allocate equipment based on operational priorities and needs.
       ICT and Communications Management
  • Supervise and support the ICT Officer to ensure effective delivery of ICT services.
  • Ensure the availability, reliability, and proper functioning of all voice and data communication systems in line with ACF standards.
  • Safeguard communication equipment and promote its safe and appropriate use.
  • Provide user training, technical support, and troubleshooting assistance to ensure effective utilization of ICT and communication systems.
       Security and Risk Management
  • Support the development and implementation of the base security plan in collaboration with the Field Coordinator.
  • Ensure compliance with logistics-related security procedures and monitor their effective application.
  • Assess logistics and operational risks and provide recommendations to support informed partner selection and risk mitigation.
       Partnership and Capacity Building Support
  • Coordinate and oversee logistics activities for projects implemented with partners.
  • Support the development and implementation of logistics-related provisions in partnership agreements.
  • Monitor compliance with logistics standards, commitments, and procedures by both ACF and partners.
  • Strengthen partner logistics capacity through training, coaching, and targeted support based on identified needs.
      Team Leadership and People Management
  • Produce a complete monthly logistics report.
  • Monitor logistics performance indicators and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency and service delivery.
       Reporting and Performance Monitoring
  • Lead and coordinate the daily operations of the logistics team to ensure efficient service delivery.
  • Delegate tasks effectively and monitor performance to ensure quality results.
  • Manage the recruitment, onboarding, and retention of logistics staff.
  • Identify learning needs and contribute to staff training and development plans.
  • Coach, mentor, and build the capacity of team members to enhance performance.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to the team as needed.
Additional Responsibilities
  • This job description is not intended to be all inclusive and the employee will also perform other related tasks as required and responsible for reporting and communication of progress and achievement of the specific assigned task.

  • Conduct all duties in a professional manner following ACF Nigeria mission staff regulations, ACF mandate and charter including promotion of gender equality.

Position Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Purchasing and Supply, or a related field; a Master's degree is an added advantage.
  • Professional certification in Logistics or Supply Chain Management (e.g., CIPS, CILT) is desirable.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in logistics and supply chain management, preferably within humanitarian, development, or I/NGO settings.
  • Strong leadership, team management, and staff development skills, including the ability to deliver training and build team capacity.
  • High level of integrity, accountability, and transparency.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and reporting skills, with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders. Well versed in English and Hausa language.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and perform effectively under pressure.
  • Flexible and resilient, with the ability to work in challenging and insecure environments.
