We carry out innovative, lifesaving programs in Health, Nutrition, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS), Food Security and Livelihoods (FSL), and Social Protection.

Action Against Hunger Nigeria (ACF Nigeria) LTD/GTE began operations in Nigeria in 2010 in response to the high rate of chronic malnutrition in Northern Nigeria, focusing on integrated programming. Action Against Hunger currently implements multi-sectoral humanitarian and development interventions in Northeast and Northwest Nigeria, funded by AFD, EU/ECHO, French Government, GAC, GFFO, SIDA, US Government, and WAM Foundation.

Action Against Hunger is currently looking to fill the role of a Janitor who will be responsible for participating in office cleaning and maintaining the environment.

Reporting to: Human Resource Officer
Proposed start date: September 2026
Work location: Sokoto, Sokoto State
Key responsibilities:
  • Clean all windows, window grilles, and entire frame;
  • Wipe and clean all surfaces (furniture, picture frames, etc.);
  • Wash and mop all floor areas;
  • Clear garbage and empty dustbins;
  • Remove all stains on the walls and floors carefully without scratching surfaces, use appropriate reagents to remove all grease and stains;
  • Clean all kitchen cabinets and wardrobes; take very particular attention to hidden areas such as corners, crannies, inner end and sides of drawers;
  • Remove all cobwebs;
  • Wash all kitchen and bathroom tiles ( floors and walls);
  • Deep clean all bathtubs and sanitary fixtures (W.C., bidet and wash hand basins);
  • Clean all balcony railings and areas;
  • Clean all door handles and knobs, the top of the door, and the body of the doors;
  • Deep clean fridges, and water dispensers, and microwaves;
  • Check and replenish drinking water,  cleaning supplies, and toiletries (hand wash, toilet paper, paper towels);
  • Scrubbing and sanitizing toilets and the sinks in the toilets  and kitchen;
  • Dust furniture such as tables, chairs, kitchen drawers, etc;
  • Maintain a routine disinfection of all toilets and other common areas;
  • Identify necessary repairs within the office and premises, and notify the HR Assistant or Logistics Facility Assistant for further action;
  • Support in management of HR supplies.
Position Requirements:
  • Senior Secondary School Certificate required;
  • 1 year or less experience in a similar role. Previous experience in office and guesthouse cleaning;
  • Ability to interact effectively with international and national personnel;
  • Commitment to renewing and maintaining knowledge of best practices;
  • Strong interpersonal, and communication skills;
  • Fluent in English and Hausa;
  • Ability to communicate read and write effectively in English;
  • High sense of Integrity;
  • Good understanding of basic hygiene;
  • Experience working with INGOs.
