Action Against Hunger began operations in Nigeria in 2010 in response to the high rate of chronic malnutrition in Northern Nigeria, focusing on integrated programming. Action Against Hunger currently implements multi-sectorial humanitarian and development interventions in Northeast and Northwest Nigeria, funded by AFD, EU/ECHO, French Government, GAC, GFFO, SIDA, US Government, and WAM Foundation.

Action Against Hunger is currently looking to fill the role of Grants and Compliance Manager who will be responsible for overseeing all critical aspects of the grant cycle from pre-award to post-award including donor compliance, timely and quality reporting, internal and external coordination.

Position Details

Reporting to: Capital Accountant

Proposed start date: December 2025

Work location: Abuja, FCT
 

Key Responsibilities:

Mission 1: Responsible for consolidating all audit sample extraction and review
  • ​​​​ Ensure that all internal and external audit exercises are duly supported
  • Provide audit schedules for all financial position ledger balances at year end.
  • Ensure all sampled transactions are duly provided for the auditors and on timely basis
  • Ensure the timely provision of SAGA transaction listing to the auditors
  • Ensure timely resolution of all audit issues and maintain a tracker for effective monitoring
Mission 2: Focal point for statutory report filing
  • ​​​​​​Review all PAYE statutory deductions at the end of payroll period
  • Extract consolidated monthly payroll deductions schedule for annual filing purpose
  • Extract each state payroll schedule for the year for filing purpose and communicate same to the Base Finance Manager
  • Retrieve acknowledgement copy of annual filing from each Base Finance Managers for consolidation at CAPITAL
Mission 3: Responsible for managing financial documents and archiving
  • ​​​​​​​​​​Receive and review and hard copy financial transaction documents from base stations
  • Revalidate the hardcopy documents against soft copies save on the SharePoint
  • Archive the hard copies for safe keeping with the third-party archivist
  • Ensure all CAPITAL financial transaction documents are duly scanned and archived
  • Moving of scanned documents to HQ archive and Hard drive
Mission 4:​​​​​​​ Support month end accountancy closure
  • Review of Excel Journals and importation into SAGA
  • Carryout SAGA cash counts, Bank reconciliation and sending file
  • Support in reviewing and sending file of all adjustment journals for monthly closure
  • Support in preparing monthly SAGA accountancy consolidation, Review & Checklist validation

Position Requirements:
  • 3​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​+ years of experience in one or more of the following areas: Administration,
    HR, Finance, Logistics
  • Advanced Excel skill is highly required
  • Highly developed interpersonal, communication skills, able to negotiate, influence, give effective feedback, be a team player
  • Able to manage stress effectively, juggle competing priorities, balance various
    programmatic, logistic and team needs
  • Champion of ACF Charter values of : Professionalism, Transparency, Neutrality, Access to Victims and Non-Discrimination
  • Previous ACF experience, previous INGO experience
  • Experience with donor-funded programs
  • Exceptional organization and planning skills, ability to manage and follow work plan
