Action Against Hunger Nigeria (ACF Nigeria) LTD/GTE began operations in Nigeria in 2010 in response to the high rate of chronic malnutrition in Northern Nigeria, focusing on integrated programming. ACF Nigeria currently implements multi-sectorial humanitarian and development interventions in Northeast and Northwest Nigeria, funded by AFD, EU/ECHO, French Government, GAC, GFFO, SIDA, US Government, and WAM Foundation.

ACF Nigeria is currently recruiting for the position of RESILAC II DEPUTY CONSORTIUM COORDINATOR that plays a critical role in ensuring a strong governance, effective coordination, quality implementation, and rigorous quality assurance across the RESILAC project in Nigeria, with primary focus on Yobe State.  This position also supports strategic representation of the consortium at state and national levels.  Working closely with implementing partners in Yobe, state authorities, and community stakeholders, the Deputy Coordinator helps ensure smooth project delivery, strengthened collaboration, and alignment with consortium objectives and standards.


Position Details

Reporting to: National Consortium Coordinator – RESILAC II
Proposed start date:  March 2026
Work location: Damaturu State

Key Responsibilities:

Mission 1: Ensure good governance, animation and coordination of the project implementation unit in Nigeria
Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and facilitate information sharing between stakeholders (partners, authorities, beneficiaries, teams);
  • Coordination and facilitation of communication between implementing partners (mainly in Yobe state) to ensure harmonized and coordinated management of activities.
  • The integration and cooperation of all project components in the overall implementation strategy for RESILAC.
  • Take into account the recommendations made by National Consortium coordinator/technical experts (regional office and/or country offices) in connection with the RESILAC project.
  • Prepare and lead operational steering committees at Yobe state
  • The implementation of the project’s partnership approach (building balanced partnerships, its monitoring and regular evaluation);

Mission 2 Support project implementation and reporting

Tasks and Responsibilities:
  • Support the territorial approach, ensuring integration and coordination across project components in Yobe Intervention
  • When delegated by the National Consortium coordinator (NCC) ensure country-level contributions to regional programming: capitalization exercises, evaluations, cross-border workshops, etc.
  • Identify and communicate bottlenecks, risks, and critical issues to the NCC 
  • Consolidate, review, internal and donor reports (quantitative and narrative) with desired quality and timely submit to the NCC
  • Ensure the integration of cross-cutting themes, particularly gender, throughout project implementation (Yobe intervention)
  • In collaboration with the Consortium MEAL Manager and MEAL Consortium officer
    • Ensure implementation of the M&E framework.
    • Oversee data collection, centralization, feedback loops, and verification processes.
    • Support baseline surveys, iterative evaluations, and results measurement.
    • Contribute for monthly quarterly and annual capitalization/review meetings
  • Oversee the implementation and budget monitoring of activities under direct responsibility (e.g., steering committees, advocacy actions).

Mission 3: Ensuring Project Quality and Accountability (Yobe intervention areas)
Tasks and Responsibilities:
  • Conduct regular field missions to assess implementation quality, compliance, and context evolution.
  • Ensure technical conformity with international standards and guidance provided by National Consortium Coordinator (NCC), country offices and regional office experts.
  • Promote high-quality implementation to maximize impact, including supporting the deployment of the Core Humanitarian Standard (CHS) among partners.
  • Strengthen community participation and consultation at all stages of the project cycle.
  • Report major implementation challenges and required adaptations to the NCC
  • Ensure, with relevant MEAL team, that accessible and functional feedback and complaint mechanisms are in place.
  • With the support of the Consortium MEAL Manager, foster continuous learning, knowledge sharing, and capitalization across the project.

Mission 4:  Communication, advocacy, representation and external coordination.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate the timely development and roll‑out of the project’s communication and advocacy strategy, in liaison with the implementing organizations.
  • Lead the collection of information, stories, and testimonies to support national and regional advocacy and communication efforts.
  • Represent the project (directly or through partners) in relevant coordination forums, public events, and stakeholder meetings, and report outcomes to relevant actors (at Borno, Yobe and Nigeria level) as per the NCC delegation
  • Ensure continuous mapping of key actors (geographical and thematic) and promote coordination, complementarity, and experience sharing.
  • With close collaboration with the NCC facilitate territorial consultation frameworks alongside Component 2 leads.
  • Maintain strong external relations with local and traditional authorities, sector ministries at State level.
  • Identify and recommend operational, academic, institutional, or private-sector partnerships.

Mission 5:  Human resources management, training and capacity building of the team 
Tasks and Responsibilities:
  • Support the recruitment and onboarding of project staff in coordination with implementing organizations and NCC
  • Plan and coordinate induction and briefing of new project team members.
  • Provide operational supervision to senior project staff and contribute to their performance evaluations and development plans.
  • Promote gender mainstreaming throughout recruitment, staff management, and project implementation processes.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Conduct all duties in a professional manner following ACF Nigeria mission staff regulations, ACF Nigeria mandate and charter including promotion of gender equality.

Position Requirements:
  • Master’s degree in project management and development (highly preferred), or in Advocacy, Humanitarian Studies, International Relations, Political Science or a related Social Sciences field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of professional experience coordinating development initiatives (strong priority) or humanitarian activities in complex operational environments
  • Demonstrated experience in coordinating development projects, ideally within multi-stakeholder or multi-country frameworks.
  • Proven experience supervising technical teams and managing or working within a consortium structure (strong advantage)
  • Solid knowledge of donor guidelines and procedures, particularly AFD and EUD is required
  • Fluency in English is required
  • Previous experience working in Yobe State is a significant advantage
  • Ability to operate effective in insecure and/or relatively isolated settings
