Action Against Hunger Nigeria (ACF Nigeria) LTD/GTE began operations in Nigeria in 2010 in response to the high rate of chronic malnutrition in Northern Nigeria, focusing on integrated programming. Action Against Hunger currently implements multi-sectoral humanitarian and development interventions in Northeast and Northwest Nigeria, funded by AFD, EU/ECHO, French Government, GAC, GFFO, SIDA, US Government, and WAM Foundation.
ACF Nigeria is currently looking to fill the role of Finance Specialist Provide support to the mission’s financial strategy and Budget management and Reporting.
Position Details
Reporting to: Deputy Head of Finance Department
Proposed start date: November 2026
Work location: Abuja FCT
Key Responsibilities:
Mission 1: Contribute and support in mission Financial Planning
- Review Financial Plan with BFU balances monthly for optimization.
- Review Financial Plan with general ledger of closed SAGA monthly to determine gaps between actual and plan cost.
- Review Financial Plan with financial line as per Nomenclature monthly.
- Review Financial Plan with new contracts and grants as they arise to determine mission volume.
- Review Financial Plan with Expat list and costing monthly to reflect mission strategy on expat costing.
- Review Z4+Z1 balances on FP and propose ways of reducing risk to Finance DHoD
- Continuous review and analysis of status and progress of all HR, Log & Program forecast/strategy in the Financial Plan
- Resolve issues on the operation of the financial plan tool and escalate where necessary.
- Follow-up with HR and respective managers on wrong GTA allocations.
- Share RECAPTCC with HOD’s and Managers monthly, carryout analysis of actual personnel cost on budgets and give recommendations to reflect changes on bases of analysis.
- Contribute to the data input on the financial plan
- Provide HoD with updated forecast gotten from program budget holders in determination of yearly landing
- Follow alignment of yearly strategy to implementation and landing
Mission 3: Contribute to Grant Financial & Budget management, Donor compliance & Budget analysis
- Preparing budget proposals in line with donor and mission requirement for review and validation of HoD and HQ
- Prepare 1st draft of donor reports, internal & external financial report in line with donor and mission requirement and period.
- Generate RECAPEUR for BFU preparation twice monthly and ensure timesheet/budget allocation on GTA aligns with forecast.
- Responsible for preparation of BFU and analysis then share with Deputy Head of Finance twice monthly.
- Incorporate budget forecast received from the field finance manager in BFU
- Support budget holders in developing their forecast and monitoring their lines.
- Monitoring forecast from RECAPDEV and its impact on the optimization of related budget lines.
- Monitor level of over/underspending per budget lines and provide feedback to Deputy Head of Finance.
- Inform the Deputy Head of Finance of any information, which affect the grant financial status.
- Review donor guidelines and ensure flexibility are respected during and after budget implementation.
Mission 4: Support in Compliance and Risk Assessment
Position Requirements:
- Knowledge of donor rules and compliance requirements
- Knowledge of Nigeria statutory rules and requirement
- 3+ years of experience in one or more of the following areas: Finance and Accountancy.
- Exceptional organization and planning skills, ability to manage and follow work plans
- Highly developed interpersonal, communication, able to negotiate, influence, give effective feedback, be a team player
- Able to manage stress effectively, juggle competing priorities, balance various programmatic, logistic and team needs
- Champion of ACF Charter values of: Professionalism, Transparency, Neutrality, Access to Victims and Non-Discrimination
- Previous ACF experience, previous INGO experience
- Experience with donor-funded programs
- Experience supervising others
