Action Against Hunger Nigeria (ACF Nigeria) LTD/GTE began operations in Nigeria in 2010 in response to the high rate of chronic malnutrition in Northern Nigeria, focusing on integrated programming. Action Against Hunger currently implements multisectoral humanitarian and development interventions in Northeast and Northwest Nigeria, funded by AFD, EU/ECHO, the French Government, GAC, GFFO, SIDA, the US Government, and the WAM Foundation.
ACF Nigeria is currently looking to fill the role of Finance Officer to support its operations in Sokoto State.
Position Details
Reporting to: Finance Manager
Proposed start date: September 2026
Work location: Sokoto State
Key Responsibilities:
The title of the position is responsible for:
- Carry out all the payments for the Bank account.
- Daily record all bank account expenses in the Excel book, in respect of ACF Nigeria's standards in terms of use of Chart of accounts, project code, Contract, financial line, and the third-party codes.
- Ensure correspondence between the physical cash & bank book (bank statements) and the cash & bank book on a daily/monthly basis.
- Prepare cash count & bank reconciliation statement at the end of each month.
- To ensure bank books & cash book are closed, reconciled & sent to capital monthly together with the bank reconciliation & cash counts.
- Reconciling vendors’ payments with the Red Rose platform for payment.
- Confirm all daily reports, summary sheets, daily transaction sheets, and amounts.
- Ensure transparency throughout the process of the unconditional/conditional cash transfer program.
- Make payments after verifying the consistency of supporting documents submitted in accordance with the Action Against Hunger procedures, ensuring all invoices are accurate, consistent and signed.
- Ensure prompt payment of the vendors based on the AC SOP on cash-based interventions.
- Training vendors on Action Against Hunger's financial procedures for cash-based interventions
- Ensure that all the accountancy documents are scanned and archived before sending the originals to the Capital
- Manage the advances, ensuring invoices are received and that they are consistent with ACF Nigeria's procedures (invoice accurate and signed)
- Verify accuracy of and pay invoices for purchases and comply with Procurement procedure
- Verify the accuracy of and pay vouchers for the allowances of stakeholders, seconded staff, and daily workers
- Process the monthly income tax payments (PAYE) as per information provided by the CapitalRead phonetically Dictionary –
- Ensure that any purchase respects the ACTION AGAINST HUNGER procurement procedure as per Kit Log
- Liaise with the log department for any discrepancies and missing procedures
- Assist the Finance Manager in BFU review meetings
- Prepare the Bi-weekly cash transfer request to be submitted to the Finance HoD
- Ensure that the cash box/bank and the safe maintain the minimum security amount
- Contribute to the elaboration of budget/reports / financial analysis when required or requested by the line manager or Finance HoD.
- Maintain cash, bank, supplier contracts, PAYE, vendor & all other finance-relevant contracts in finance department
- Verify & cross-check all base monthly financial documents are correctly allocated & completed as per ACTION AGAINST HUNGER Archiving guidelines
- Archive financial files as per ACTION AGAINST HUNGER archiving guidelines, keep copies at the base & send the original to the capital every month
- Provide day-to-day management of staff directly under his/her responsibility (Finance Assistant)
- Set objectives with staff under his/her direct management, and appraise their performance in accordance with ACTION AGAINST HUNGER performance management policies, identifying areas where they require support and capacity building
- Ensure that all financial policies and procedures are followed by Finance staff directly under his/her responsibility.
Position Requirements:
- 3+ years of experience in one or more of the following areas: Finance, Administration
- Degree in accounting or any finance-related field
- Advanced Excel skills are highly required
- Experience using Odoo accounting software is an advantage
- A member of any ANAN or ICAN is desired
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, able to negotiate, influence, give effective feedback, and be a team player
- Able to manage stress effectively, juggle competing priorities, and balance various
programmatic, logistic, and team needs - Champion of ACF Charter values of: Professionalism, Transparency, Neutrality, Access to Victims, and Non-Discrimination
- Previous ACF experience, previous INGO experience
- Experience with donor-funded programs
- Exceptional organization and planning skills, ability to manage and follow a work plan
